EXT. DEEP SPACE – NIGHT

The virtual parallel lines on James’ helmet finally line up.

His eyes fixed on the horizon.

A.I.
Now, James.

James presses the trigger, the thrusters propel him forward at high speed.

At the distance, the space craft shines in the light of a nerby star.

The thruters are depleted, they shut down in mid-flight.

A.I.
Thrusters depleted.

JAMES
(hands forward)
Okay, this is it!

A.I.
The oxygen level has dropped to 5%, James, are you sure you…

JAMES
Leave it to me!

James moves fast through space at high speed.

Makes a straight line, getting closer and closer to the space craft.

JAMES
We’re coming home!

James gets even closer to the spacecraft.

He reaches it!

Hits the side of it with his upper body.

Because of the force of the impact, James spurts blood from his mouth and onto the helmet’s glass.

He rolls along the fuselage.

JAMES
(hurting)
C’mon!

James reaches out, grabs hold of a pipe on the side of the space craft.

Stops his movement.

He breaths heavily.

A.I.
Oxygen level at 2%, James.

JAMES
We are not done yet!

James raises his head to look up.

He can see the entrance to the ship near his position.

(FLASHBACK)

INT. ESCAPE POD – NIGHT

James, sitting next to Sara, looks at the Earth from the window of the escape pod.

The planet is a pearl of intense blue and green, colorful and beautiful against the darkness of space.

SARA
A dream?

JAMES
(nodding)
When I was a kid.

Patrick stands from his seat.

PATRICK
And you want us to risk our lives for a dream?

JAMES
No, that’s not what I’m saying.

SARA
(at Patrick)
We can’t stay here.

PATRICK
The fuselage of the pod is damaged, we don’t even know if it will hold…

JAMES
My new born son is waiting for me. I have to get back.

Patrick sits back down, annoyed.

SARA
So, we’re really doing this.

JAMES
We have to.

James presses the ignition on the pod panel.

SARA
What did you see… in your dream?

James is focused on the intruments of the panel.

SARA
James?

JAMES
The end.

James and Sara look straight into their eyes.

EXT. SPACE OUTSIDE THE SPACECRAFT – NIGHT

James holds on to the fuselage tube.

The vastness of space surrounds him.

He reaches out and grabs an edge,

A new effort propels him forward.

Ahead, the space craft entrance door.

His body collides against the hatch, unable to stop his movement.

He keeps moving away from the entrance.

But.

He reaches and holds himself against a lever on the side.

Stops finnaly and breaths.

In front of him, the entrance of the ship.

A.I.
Oxygen levels at 0%, James.

James breaths all the air he has left inside his helmet.

Holds his breath.

Lunges for the hatch with all the strength he has left.

(FLASHBACK)

INT. ESCAPE POD – DAY

The pod pierces the atmosphere engulfed in flames as seen from the window.

The interior vibrates with force.

JAMES
Hold on!

Pieces of the fuselage break loose.

Steam escapes from the tubes.

The pod falls free in the air.

Ahead, out the window, the pod is heading straight for a wooden area.

JAMES
Brace for impact!

The pod hovers, but continues to move towards the line of trees, hitting them directly.

The trees are torn apart as the pod passes by.

However.

Ahead, a rocky mound approaches.

JAMES
Damn it!

The pod hits the rocks and breaks in two.

Patrick is ejected out along with the destroyed pieces.

SARA
Patrick!!

Sara is unable to look ahead as the pod hits another line of trees.

Coming to a screeching halt.
